  1. Dear Chandana,
    Test tube babies are concieved by in vitro fertilisation. That means when a mother can't naturally give birth to a baby or insemination(transfer of sperms) cannot take place, this method is followed. The egg is fertilised by sperm outside the body.
    The ova is removed from the ovum letting sperm fertilise in a fluid medium in a laboratory. The fertilised egg (zygote) is then transferred to the patient's uterus.

  2. hi Anjali,
    A floating island is a mass of floating aquatic plants, mud, and peat ranging in thickness from a few inches to several feet. Floating islands are a common natural phenomenon that are found in many parts of the world.Floating islands are generally found on marshlands, lakes, and similar wetland locations, and can be many hectares in size.
    some of the floating lakes are as below
    Lake Titicaca, Bolivia and Peru
    Lake Kyoga, Uganda
    Lake Malawi, Africa
    Loktak Lake, India
    Lake Buckeye, Winter Haven, Florida
    Lake Idyl, Winter Haven, Florida
    Umbagog Lake, Maine and New Hampshire, United States
    Island Pond, Springfield, Massachusetts, United States

    Macau is one of such lake.

  3. hi Tejas,

    The Internet Protocol (IP) is the principal communications protocol in the Internet protocol suite for relaying data grams across network boundaries. Its routing function enables internet working, and essentially establishes the Internet.

    The Internet Protocol is responsible for addressing hosts and for routing datagrams (packets) from a source host to a destination host across one or more IP networks. For this purpose, the Internet Protocol defines the format of packets and provides an addressing system that has two functions: identifying hosts and providing a logical location service.

    nowadays without this protocol we cannot imagine our IT life.

  4. hi Dhruv,

    The answer is YES. It plays a major role in many disease treatments. Take a look at the below list, you will understand the importance of metals as it is a combination of chemicals.

    lithium--its carbonate is used for bipolar disorder;
    sodium--its bicarbonate is a common antacid;
    magnesium--its salicylate is an antiseptic;
    potassium--critical for nerve function; its chloride is given as a supplement;
    calcium--needed for bones and nerve function; its carbonate is a common supplement;
    iron--critical for blood forming; its chloride is used as a supplement;
    zinc--its gluconate is useful in reducing the symptoms of the common cold;
    strontium--certain of its radioisotopes are used in cancer therapy;
    silver--its sulfadiazine has been used as an antibiotic;
    bismuth--its subsalicylate (seen as Pepto-Bismol, e.g.) is used to treat upset stomach

    But remember metals can be toxic in high quantities. Either ingestion or faulty metabolic pathways can lead to metal poisoning.

  5. hi Kaveri and anjana

    This is an extremely rare ABO group, called so because it was first discovered among some people in Bombay (now Mumbai). Although the group is more likely to occur in East Indians, it is a very rare group even here. It is not restricted to East Indians but found in Caucasians, Japanese, etc. Their red cells lack ABH antigens and their sera contain anti-A and anti-B and anti-H. The anti-H would not be detected in the ABO group but would be detectable in pretransfusion tests.

  6. hi shashi,

    Full form of DNA is Deoxyribonucleic acid and is a molecule that encodes the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms and many viruses.DNA is one of the three major macromolecules essential for all known forms of life.It is very fine and tightly coiled but there may be as much as a metre in a single cell. DNA is really a code. It is divided up into sections. These sections are genes, which carry all the instructions for making up our body. So there is a gene that tells the body to have brown hair and so on. Each gene is a code for a particular protein. Our bodies are made up of proteins. So the genes dictate how we are made and what our bodies look like.
    Yes when it comes to why is it in our blood? for which you need to know this.
    There are two types of human DNA: nuclear DNA found in the nucleus of our cells and mitochondrial DNA found inside the cytoplasm of the cells.Nuclear DNA is created from the combination of genes you inherit from both your parents, whereas mitochondrial DNA is passed down through the maternal line, so you will have the same mitochondrial DNA as your mother or your mother's mother. Nuclear DNA is only found in nucleated cells. That means you only get nuclear DNA in white blood cells, which are outnumbered by red blood cells in the blood stream. So this answers your question.

  7. hi Meenakshi,

    A symposium is an meeting or conference where people get together to discuss thoughts and exchange ideas, rather than to be lectured at. In ancient Greece, a symposium was a social get together for young men to celebrate entering into the noble society.
